A positioning method for Israeli technology companies that need to become understandable, credible, and easy to shortlist in a new market.

When a prospect asks, 'So are you a platform, a service, or a feature?' your positioning has already lost some of its work. The question is not a request for a longer pitch. It is evidence that your market category, buyer problem, and commercial outcome are still blurred. That matters because buyers often choose before sales gets a chance to clarify. In 6sense's 2025 research, buyers contacted sellers at 61% of the journey on average, yet 95% selected from their Day One shortlist. [1]

Write a position that a non-expert can repeat

A useful positioning statement gives a buyer three things quickly: the specific situation where you matter, the business result you improve, and the reason your approach is credible. Technical detail comes after that, not before it.

Test the statement with someone outside the product team. If they cannot explain who it is for, why it matters, and what makes it different after one read, the message needs work.

Choose a narrow wedge for the first market

A new market does not need your entire product story on day one. Pick the segment where you have the sharpest evidence: a regulated use case, a particular buyer role, an implementation constraint, or a measurable outcome. This gives SEO, paid media, outbound, and sales one coherent starting point.

The decision should be commercial. Look for a segment where referenceability, sales access, and urgency already exist, not only a large theoretical market.

  • Name the buyer and the business trigger.
  • Show the before-and-after operating change.
  • Use proof that the target market can verify.

Make the message survive the buying group

The 6sense report describes typical purchases involving more than 10 people. [1] That means a positioning page must help several readers at once. The operational lead needs the workflow, the executive needs the business case, and the technical evaluator needs evidence that the claim can be delivered.

Build those layers into the page instead of sending everyone to a sales deck.
